About Charles Loescher

Charles Loescher can be described as a serial entrepreneur. Loescher currently owns or co-owns 25 registered and active businesses that operate in the New Orleans metro area. He is known for his risk taking and resiliency. He has been instrumental in the last 10 years of purchasing vacant and blighted properties in key areas of the New Orleans metro area and bringing them back into commerce. Properties like the Atlas building off of St. Bernard Highway that was once an icon in the heart of St. Bernard was left abandoned and vacant after Hurricane Katrina. With Charles Loescher at the helm, it now houses a law office, dental lab, bar, and housing apartments on the upper floors. Since Katrina, Loescher has also brokered deals representing the sellers for Speedy Cash, CVS, Walgreens, and Choice Hotels. There is a long list of residential and commercial properties he redeveloped after Hurricane Katrina including his own main office and warehouse on Jean Lafitte Parkway in Chalmette, but included are the highlights of Charles Loescher’s business accomplishments and how the communities he does business in benefit from his developments.

HIGHLIGHTS:

In the past 10 years, Charles Loescher has invested in a conglomerate of business ventures and has successfully grown each business despite the set-backs of Hurricane Katrina, the recession and the Gulf oil spill.

The post-Katrina project was financed through the New Market Tax Credits. These credits have a proven record of helping to create jobs and spur the economic growth by supporting essential projects in hurricane damaged areas. It was an important investment in St. Bernard parish after Hurricane Katrina that has helped grow the parish by attracting visitors who might normally stay in a chain hotel in New Orleans. It has given St. Bernard a boost in the hospitality industry allowing them to promote to visitors to stay, eat and shop in St. Bernard.

Redevelopments

akiraJefferson Parish: Charles Loescher made significant contributions to the redevelopment efforts of Jefferson Parish’s Fat City neighborhood. The push from government officials to phase out “adult” clubs, reduce crime and attract upscale businesses was an attractive proposition for Loescher. In 2012, when the Parish Council was rezoning and enforcing new ordinances, Loescher purchased 3226 N. Arnoult Street and applied for a permit for a total overhaul of the property in the heart of Fat City. The renovation transformed a restaurant that hosted an evening dance crowd into a sleek Japanese eatery, Akira Sushi and Hibachi Grill. Clean white tiles replaced the red floors and created a smokeless environment and a turning point for Fat City.

baronne stDowntown New Orleans: Hurricane Katrina was an urban tragedy for New Orleans with a loss of thousands of jobs and a significant population loss. Charles Loescher took a risk on the purchase and redevelopment of 300 Baronne Street. Left completely vacant after Hurricane Katrina, 300 Baronne Street now houses 9 apartments, a restaurant and office spaces. This development has contributed to the growth and development of the downtown area. Loescher has brought new life to this historic building in the city center. The Downtown Development District has commended Loescher for his efforts to bring people back to the downtown area and create a living and working environment on a high traffic corner.

Loescher Realty and CML Commercial Real Estate Services

baronne streetCharles Loescher has been actively involved in the real estate industry for the past 20 years. He has a passion for negotiating the best deal for buyers and sellers of homes, office buildings, convenience stores, and small shopping centers throughout the New Orleans metro area and the Mississippi Gulf Coast areas. In 2008, Charles Loescher began his own real estate brokerage firm, Loescher Realty, and later in 2010, opened another real estate firm, CML Commercial Real Estate Services, dedicated to the sales of commercial properties. At that time, the real estate market was dormant due to the uncertainties created by the Gulf oil spill. The banks were not loaning money because the people of Louisiana were dependent on the oil and seafood industry and the long term effects were unknown.   Despite these setbacks, Loescher’s real estate company managed to remain profitable. He currently has 5 full-time agents working under his brokerage. In the past 10 years, Charles Loescher’s real estate companies have closed over 15 million dollars of real estate each year. Many of these properties were abandoned and now have new life.

Hammond Development

Loescher, a native of St. Bernard, had many relatives and friends in need of a place to start a new life after losing everything in the storm. He purchased the tract of land in hopes of creating a new future for many displaced residents of the St. Bernard area.

Gulf South Insurance Services

Loescher opened a branch of TWFG Insurance in 2012 in St. Bernard parish in order to speed up recovery efforts in the housing and commercial market. He brought more carrier options to the area which in turn offered more affordable rates to consumers in the parish. The business has doubled its profits since inception.

Charles has been married 21 years to Lisa and they have 3 beautiful children, Brooke, Madelyn, and Chandler.  A native of Arabi, he currently resides in Slidell, La.
